She’d thought it observation, nothing he didn’t already know, with her expression neutral in the wake of his evident defeat. At his words and coincidentally the foot of ever changing staircase she stopped dead in her tracks, sending a look over her shoulder to be sure she did not miss the path to her class and a bare beginning of a smile his way. “Thank…you.” She was hesitant to accept if only because she was sure he’d be gone by now. She shuffled, the stairs were taking too long for her liking and he was still there. She was never one to keep quiet despite whatever impression she was giving now and she thought parting words couldn’t hurt: “Don’t add me to the list of girls you’ve done minor inconvenience and forgotten…okay?”

There was a awkward moment where she bit back on the words she could not retract before her sight dropped and she turned taking whatever hall the stairs had to offer her with fleet-foot in her suddenly desperate want to leave. That had been far too much for him to work with. “Goodbye Dick!”
