If anything he is observant and he catches those little signs that show she’s trying not to laugh at the details of his story. Was there anything cuter than the way she bit her lip to suppress it? It makes him wish he had more to say (certainly, anything Rahne threw at him would be worth it now) if only so he could see her smile like that again. And suddenly, like finding a hidden treasure there it was, the laugh he’d been waiting for. It’s cute in her own unique little way, different just like her and it makes the whole world seem silent and dull in comparison. If her statement is true and he does have the worst luck he certainly isn’t feeling it. ❛Actually, I’m feeling like the luckiest guy in the school right now.❜ Sure, he was in pretty bad shape overall, fell off his broom, got punched and had to do manual labor for a girl he wronged over a year ago but could anyone else actually say they were here right now with her? Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise. ❛I can’t believe you actually know her.❜ It does hurt a little but he doesn’t want to admit that, not when her fingers are brushing his jaw, making him nervous and excited all at once. ❛I’d carry them right now if you wanted. Although, it may be a little difficult to do one handed.❜ He’s kidding mostly and he wears the stupid grin to prove it (or at least half of it. He doesn’t want to bust his lip again).

She caught herself smiling only when he commented on how very lucky he was, swallowing hard suddenly nervous in the wake of his affections. His gaze was intense and trained on her and it has not changed even a little since the day they met; while it was to his merit it certainly made her look bad. She’d been blinded it was hard to look at him dead on, he was the sun and she could only glance at him out of the corner of her eyes a blush forming on her cheek from his intensity. “You’re too strange, Dick Grayson.” It was a laugh, full and true and coupled with a snort as she let her nervous energy shine through purposely or not. Hands found their way off his fresh bruises and over her mouth as she basked in the horror of it all before she timidly moving the subject back onto Rahne. “She’s a wildcard. I try not to talk to her or her friends too much. They think I’m in their groups but…they’re so lame.” Perhaps it was only a blurb, misplaced information but on the other hand perhaps she was welcoming him by giving his first look into her life however small. Her smile only barely resurfaced as he offered to carry her books. So eager to please and so light heated, it only made the question sear into her mind further. “Can I ask you a question?” She did not believe there was any universe where he would have said no to her requests so she pressed on. “…Why do you think you’re slythern?”
