“Essentially. People round that joint aren’t the friendliest” Her jabs at his nonexistent ego were made on deaf ears even as she made such a full attempt, his expression remaining all the same as he offers a brief shake of his head “Got better things to do than go blabbin’ bout where you come from. Not my place to say. Not when me own were the same.” It was to be expected given the reputation his house had so graciously made for themselves but was there really that much harm in trying? If she really hated him she would blatantly say bugger off and he’d be done with it—until then, however.

“Make it sound like I’m stalkin’. Not hard to miss when you sit in the same bloody places. You ain’t the only one that studies.” His study load was substantially smaller than the one she took on between potions and spells involving dark magic but he still had to keep up somehow, the fact she was here whilst he did so was pure coincidence “Should learn a little more about people, comes in right handy sometimes.”

There was a blissful moment where she said nothing. The pout on her face settled on her shoulders as she sighed, exhaling exclusively through her nose to make a fuss of it all, and fixed her posture as she opted to set her sight on the distance rather than him. Her patience was being tested and her points and insults had all but run out. No matter what she said it simply rolled off that stupid trenchcoat of his. Maybe she wasn’t as mean as she thought? Maybe he was used to it? Her pride was carried in her chest, puffed out to compensate for his conquest over her harsh words, allowing her to reflect on what he had to said not with the defeat she felt but with an insufferable superiority complex, “I don’t want to learn more about people; people are awful. And all the textbooks with things worth learning about back that up.”

She spared him one last look that read as dignity at first glance but that she feared someone such as he who claimed to know people might read into it and find the confusion before she tucked her legs back under the table in front of her and pulled in her chair. “If you’re going to sit down here you should do it. Your lurking gives me the heebie jeebies.”

“And for the record I’m not tutoring you.”
